What it checks

Characters

With spaces, without spaces, letters, digits, punctuation, lines and bytes.

And

Limits

Title tag, meta description, social posts and SMS, each marked as fitting or not.

Also

Words

Word and sentence counts alongside, so the two never disagree.

How to read the result

What to do with it

  • A title tag shows about 60 characters before it is cut.
  • A meta description shows about 155 on desktop and less on phones.
  • Bytes matter for SMS and some form fields, so they are listed too.
The next step

When one page is not enough

These tools check one thing at a time. The free SEO audit crawls a whole site and emails a report with the findings in priority order, and the paid plans turn that report into a proposal with the money at stake.

Questions

About the character counter

Do spaces count as characters?

Both counts are shown. Most platform limits count spaces; search snippets are cut by pixel width, so the character count is a guide.

Why is the byte count higher than the character count?

Accented letters, symbols and emoji take more than one byte in UTF-8, which is what web forms and messages use.

How long should a title tag be?

Between 50 and 60 characters keeps it whole in most results. Put the term people search for near the start.
